Christmas For Caring

The Neighborhood Alliance Christmas for Caring program; which is entirely donor-driven, touched nearly 2000 participants last year. We could not do this without the generous support and participation from our community and corporate partners. Donors can select from a variety of different holiday options such as Family Care Baskets, Senior Care Boxes, Adopt A Child, and other collection opportunities. What is a Senior Care Box?

Senior Care boxes are gift boxes specifically crafted for the elders on Santa’s list. We ask donors to fill shoebox-sized containers not bigger than 20-quart size with useful items for seniors. This could include small snacks, stamps, tea, large font play cards, or even a special holiday ornament.

Our Senior Nutrition Meal Drivers deliver these special gift boxes to home-bound seniors throughout Lorain County. We ask that these gifts NOT be wrapped on the outside BUT if you would like to cover items inside the box with tissue paper. This consideration helps with the driver’s ability to stack and deliver gifts more efficiently along with allowing seniors to unwrap their gifts comfortably. What is a Family Care Basket?

Family Care Baskets are our most requested gifts for Families involved in Neighborhood Alliance programming. These baskets are typically requested to be either a laundry basket or a laundry basket-sized tote with a lid. Baskets can be filled with useful household items such as laundry detergent, dryer sheets, toilet paper, baby wipes, kitchen cleaning items, towels, disinfecting wipes, and personal care items. Family board games and fun holiday crafts are other fun item that can be added to this basket.

Most of the families in our program absolutely love and appreciate the thought that goes into the Family Cares Baskets donated during Christmas for Caring. Many of the families in our programming received benefits that don’t cover the cost of basic paper goods or hygiene products.
